Hello, My cat Miagi has recently been vomiting profusely. I took her in to see a vet previously and I was told that it was probably just due to stress. Today, however, she's hasn't been able to keep anything down at all and she keeps foaming at the mouth after throwing up. I'm really not sure what to do for her... and I'm not from the area, so I don't know of any emergency hospitals to take her too... Thanks, Julie
Hi Julie, I am hoping that you found someone to care for your kitty by now. Unfortunately we are not able to respond to these questions on an emergency basis. If you still need veterinary care, please call our office and we would be happy to help. Profuse vomiting, whether stress induced or not, is not normal and should be treated.

Hello, I am currently pet sitting my grandmother's 13 year old Maine Coon cat. He is randomly vomiting his partially digested food probably 3 xs a week, vomiting clear odorless liquid almost everyday, and periodically eliminating outside the litter box, and howling at night. He has done all of the above for at least a year and does not seem in pain or listless. My question is this common for older cats or could something serious be going on? My grandmothers vet is about 3 hours away so I cannot bring him there, and although I understand nothing can be diagnosed via email my grandmother is on a tight budget and if this is common for older kitties than I will relax a little. Thank you and look forward to your response! Nicole Spaulding ( my dog Zoey is a patient)
Hi Nicole. Thank you for your question. I am sorry to hear your grandmother's cat is having some issues. Without an examination and some diagnostic testing, I couldn't say for sure if this is serious or not. Because it has been going on for some time, it is possible the vomiting could be related to diet or digestive problems. Pain in animals does not look like pain in humans so the howling could be a indicator that he is uncomfortable. If you would like to schedule an appointment for an examination, please give our office a call and we can set something up for you. Thank you and good luck.

Hello, my cat Murphy has been seen by you in the past. Unfortunately due to circumstances I do not have the money to bring him in to be seen again at this time. I'm experiencing a bit of a problem that has gotten much much worse the past year. He used to throw up his food after eating on occasion. I had always believed and been told he was gorging his food. Now it's every time he eats (nearly). I've tried virtually every cat-food out there, including various wet-foods, and elimination diets. I've tried limiting it to small amounts multiple times again, and always keeping the bowl full. He's fine upon switching to a new food for a week or two, and then it just starts again. If he's not puking a certain brand, he's shitting it - watery, and in some brands green. I just cant find a food-related problem, or what food to feed him, or if it's some other problem he's having. Please help. (The other household cat is fine, no matter what he eats.)
Hi Ms. Heath. I am sorry to hear your kitty is having this problem. Since you have tried switching foods, it is likely the problem cannot be cured by an over the counter diet. Also, switching foods too quickly will cause watery stools. He may have a parasite or need a prescription diet that is specifically formulated to be gentle on his stomach. I realize cost is a concern and we do offer Care Credit as a payment plan if that would help. Please give us a call if we can be of further help. Thank you!

Our beloved 16 year old cat Smokey seems to have a throat obstruction that sometimes interferes with his efficient eating, drinking and purring. Does he need to be subjected to the whole nine yards or is there something common we might understand that we can do to bring him relief? Thank you, Sincerely, Jim and Angela Brooks 315-738-1479
We are sorry to hear that Smokey is not feeling well. It is hard to say what type of medical treatment Smokey will respond best to. If you can bring him in for an examination, we will be able to determine how to proceed. We certainly can take as conservative an approach as you like. Call our office to schedule an appointment when you are ready. Thank you!
