ok a while back out of no where my swissysaint saint bernard greater swiss mix.. started walking on his right hind knuckles rolling his paw forward...since then he is not doing it as much but sometimes i c him do it... what can be the cause of this had x ray done and there is nothing noticible
If you have had your pet examined and x-rayed by your veterinarian, you should have some sort of idea what he or she thinks it could be. I encourage you to ask for a definitive diagnosis. It could be a genetic abnormality or something neurological. To diagnose a problem like this, I would perform a thorough physical exam along with possible spinal x-rays depending on what the exam findings were. If I still didn't have a definitive diagnosis, I would refer it out to a specialist for a possible MRI. Feel free to call if you need further help. Good luck.

Our young German Sheppard mix recently thought he was "Superman" and decided to skip the last 5 steps of the stairs on the way down. Since his belief he could fly, he has been limping on his front left paw. While I do believe that it just needs time to heal as he probably just pulled something; is there a recommended way to get him to stay off of it? He doesnt like to just lay as he has that "puppy" energy and wants to always be and go where you are. Also, is there an OTC pain med that can be given similar to Benedryll for car sickness.
I am sorry to hear your dog is limping. An injury like that could heal itself over several days or it might be something more serious that needs medical attention. Obviously, we recommend you see your veterinarian as early as possible. If that is not an option, you can watch it for a few days, trying to limit activity by confining him to a small area or room if possible. There is a doggy aspirin that you can purchase over the counter that might help with the pain but it is not the best or safest option for him. If we can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to call us. Tell Superman to limit his flying tricks! Thank you and good luck.

Jerome is a pug, he's had skin issues in the past. He's had an infection before that made him stinky so we use masleba shampoo to try and keep that from coming back but he's been a little stinkier than normal lately. He has some black patches under is front legs that seam to be getting worse. He has had them for a long time but I feel like they look a little bigger. He also had some few red bumps on his belly, kinda look like ingrown hairs but a little crustier. Lastly, the wrinkle above his nose seams to have a wound in it. I've been cleaning it and trying to keep his wrinkles dry and it doesn't seam to bother him much. I didn't know if I should bring him in to have all these things checked out or keep doing what i'm doing...
We are sorry to hear that Jerome is experiencing troubling skin problems. It seems that some of the symptoms are new and may need medication to properly treat them. Call our office and we can get you in for an appointment. Thank you!
